The internet loves to operate... and someone asked me the other day what a mag weighs loaded- and I had no idea. Here are a few mags on a digital kitchen scale for reference. All are 30 rounders. And all are loaded to a maximum of 27 rounds (not for any good reason that I can back up- just the way I load mags).
So, in case you're interested, or in case someone asks you in the future, here you go:
Empty Magpul PMag- I don't know the generation (Maybe M2- that's mostly what I have) If someone can clue me in based on how it looks, please let me know. 4.94 ounces empty.
Empty GI Aluminum mag with a green follower (OKay Industries if you're interested). 4.02 ounces:
GI Aluminum with 27 rounds of Hornady 75 Grain TAP Ammo: 17.78 ounces:
GI Mag with 27 round of 62 Grain LAP SS109. 15.59 ounces:
Feel free to adjust your bug-out-load-out accordingly-
