This post is inspired by Tattooedgunner's post about his stolen Glock getting back to him. Glad everything worked out for you.

I will be moving to MS on Sept. 1st. And would like some more ideas as to help secure them better.

The guns will be in a soft bag (see pictures) and loaded first into my trunk in the very back with a bunch of shit if front of of it. I was thinking of getting a steel cable and securing it some how.

Any suggestions as to how heavy the cable needs to be? Where to secure it? Locks you recommend? I have one that I'll most likely use, again see pictures.

Give me your thoughts please.

Also forget about the ammo cans. Same deal with them steal cable and lock?

Personally, I'd probably just keep the car locked when I'm not driving it. Although that's a long drive and I assume you'd have to spend at least one night on the road? I'd bring the soft cases inside with me, but leave the ammo (because it looks heavy!).

Yeah I have young children and will be making two overnight stops (at least). And yes that shit is very heavy. Maybe just steel cable the ammo down and put guns in hotel room.

That's how I've traveled for competitions before. I make sure the obvious looking heavy stuff is covered by at least a beach towel- just in case someone in the parking lot is interested in what's left in the trunk (while unloading for the night). The guns go in the room.

If you have any stickers on your car like NRA, Glock, etc you may consider removing them.

Park the car in a well-lit area/etc.

Good advice on the stickers- really applies all the time in my opinion.

EDIT... and to take it one step further, get a Hillary 2016 decal- just tape it on temporarily :)

Yes the well lit area and within view are things common sense what I was taught growing up. The stickers... NRA and fuck no I'm not putting on Liberal camo, this a matter of... well pride (dumb I know) but I won't be stopping in California except once to stop for gas and then back on the road. And I'm just gonna bring the guns in with me it sounds like.
Feel free to berate me now. :)

Don't ever leave them in the car, and don't travel through states where they aren't allowed. It's not worth the risk.

Yeah I'm not gonna leave them in the car. Just makes sense. All of them were purchased here in California... so they're beyond legal everywhere... in the US.
