Some of you know about my other project, a 1973 Gibson houseboat. Since it is freezing cold outside and I am missing the lake, I thought I would finally post a few pics of the boat and other fruits of my labor.

Fat fishermen catch fat fish. That is my theory anyway. ;D

Can you believe I was a scrawny sickly baby? Dad said I bought the beanstalk seeds and ate them on the way home in the 3rd grade.

I regret to say I have never eaten freshly caught fish!
A fisherman friend once promised to have me over for some, but never followed through :'(

I have noodled before (insert joke here) but no. I try to catch whatever I suspect they are eating. For blue cats I prefer to use a casting net and catch shad. Then cut shad according to the size. Big shad gets cut into 3rds with head discarded. Little shad get used whole. With blues I use a circular hook that looks like it would not catch a fish at all. You have to let them take it until the circular hook hits the corner of the mouth, no setting the hook which is really hard to learn! For catfishing nuts, blue cats are like bass for a bass fisherman. Blues are released. Channels get dressed up in a corn meal jacket and taken to dinner. :D

Here is a little inside info on my "secret" blue cat spot. Straight south of our lake about an hour is the Ohio River. There is a warm water discharge very close to a casino that pumps warm water into the river year round below the surface. Not a lot of people know about it. I can go there and regularly catch blues 30 lbs. or more right by the casino. People cruise right on by to get away from the casino so they can go catch the big ones. I just wave. :D

What is the engine set up on the Bark-O-Lounger? Gas or diesel? I'm guessing a direct drive, powered by a large engine of some type.

You are correct. It has a 318 gas powered V8 in it. Many of the Gibsons have two 318 engines because they are considered river boats where if your motor fails you are in big trouble. I did not want two motors to work on so I wanted the single engine model. With the single engine model, I added 600 lbs. of lead in the rear for ballast to make it drive better. I guess if I ever have to make my own bullets I will raid the ballast of the boat.

Vert, that chair appears to have been completely weinerated. I install a lot of fences for the weiner dogs. Next to the various retrievers and pit bulls, my third most common dog I work with it are Dachshunds. Great dogs and great explorers, which I love because dogs that run away are the ones that keep me in business.

That sunset view is from my slip, which is across from the gas pumps. I sit topside with a beverage and watch people try to get to the gas pumps. Makes for great entertainment without even moving the boat. :D

That is a terrible story. I wish you were a little closer. I would correct that terrible injustice.
