Which do you prefer,Mil dot or fine duplex?

Why?

I found a deal on Leupold Mark 4 mil dot to put on deer rifle. Always have used duplex, understand for AR use but would it be advantageous. Doubt be doing any shooting over 150 to 200 yards.

For deer hunting I like a standard duplex reticle like the Nikoplex, or NF Forceplex. They are fast and uncluttered.

For target shooting, one of the NF MOAR reticles.

Plain old duplex for me. Most of my shooting/hunting is well inside of 200 yards.

If you found a deal on it get it and go with it. I don’t think the dots are that distracting. They’ve never bothered me anyway. And if you ever get the notion to shoot a little bit farther, you can read up on how to use them. Rather have them and not need them.

This is what I am worried about,since my eyesight is changing,cataracts. I`m having harder time with pistol sights is not bright or defined. Was worried all those littel dots might mess me up.

At those ranges the reticle's utility is minimal, so go with whatever suits your eye better. And that is subjective to the user, so we can't help much with that. Based on what you're saying about your vision, if I had to guess, I'd say just go with duplex.

The center intersection of the Leupold mil-dot should be thicker than the intersection on a duplex reticle. If your vision is going bad, this may help you.

Is the reticle illuminated? If so, this could also help you.

thanks for all the input, Going to go to big box store and check out some before I commit to any. I have fine retical on mine now and love it. Thick leading to this and has worked. I`m worried the dots will all blend into each other. Have to wait and see
