First centerfire rifle I ever bought was a Yugo SKS for $90....back before the internet was remotely common I remember wondering if it was any good since it was cheap even then

My first was a 1942 Mosin Nagant. It was $80 and I got a tin of ammo with it for another $40.

If you want a wood stock, just trade the underfolder for one with a wood stock. I've removed an underfolder and used that kit above to add a MFT Minimalist stock to a Yugo using this as inspiration:

It’s really that I want a wood SIDE folder, not just a fixed stock. The underfolder is fine, it’s not a precision rifle so a tiny bit of stock wobble isn’t killing me. Problem with it is how slow it is to deploy the UF stock.

But now that I’ve seen side folders, specifically the steel triangle 4.5mm type, I really like how quickly they can be brought into action. They’re slightly bulkier than the UF, but you gotta pay for speed somewhere.

I also like wood a lot, so to me having a nice wood stock on there would be ideal - and on a Yugo, with it’s 1.5mm rcvr and bulged trunnion, but built with a CL CHF barrel?

Might be the IDEAL AKM.

Realistically, what is the best case scenario for VA? I cant think of anything that would be better than what it was in December.

Realistically, coverage is buried on purpose. Several individuals are arrested and labeled as neo-Nazis and that gets covered so it looks like everyone associated with protesting is a neo-Nazi. Governor Blackface calls everyone's bluff and VA turns into the east coast version of CA practically overnight. Legislation is passed and the NRA asks everyone for a bunch of money to litigate the constitutional overreaches of the legislation over the next 10 years as VA becomes even deeper blue. As it becomes deeper blue, residents of NoVA decide that taxes are too high and use their money to move to North Carolina and Kentucky to vote for the same stupid ideas that ruined VA. The people left in VA are left with a powerful centralized government that continues to thirst for power and goes further left on its own.
