Howdy Pilgrims. I need some recommendations for a stereo installer in the Atlanta area. The old Bose system in the Vette finally kicked the bucket. I'd do it myself, but this is a couple orders of magnitude more difficult than a standard install. I need to run new speaker wires and some modifications need to happen before a stereo will fit in the dash. The older GM Bose system used a non-powered head unit and had amps attached to the speakers..terrible system. Anyway, looking for any ideas for someone that will do a decent job on an older car, and exercise some caution when dealing with 20 year old plastic trim pieces.

Thanks.

There's a place on South bound Roswell road just north of 285. I've never used them but I've seen dozens of Bentleys, RRs, Ferraris, and classics there so I guess they're good. I'll go by there today and get their name

Frye's completely revamped the system on my '92 Infiniti convertible. They did a great job and had little to work with.

Decent pricing? I'm not looking to spend a lot on it.

high school kids. Step above minimum wage sales force.
That's what worries me. I just called them and I had to explain, in detail, the difference between this install and a typical install. I've been reading about it on a Corvette Forum, and a number of guys have said that this is an 8-10 hour job. The kid at Best Buy said they could do it for $310 and it would take an hour and 45 minutes. Pass. I'm not getting into that mess. I'm tempted to just do it myself.

Did it myself. Re-wired the whole sonofabitch, and installed an 8" powered subwoofer. It took about 8 hours start to finish. Not bad considering the amount of custom fabrication and in-dash modification I had to do. If I'd let Best Buy do it, I'd be fucked. There's no way they would have done it right.

Sorry, work took me to the other side of town and I couldn't get the name of that shop.

No problem. Every place I checked wanted $350-$450 for labor alone. I did the whole thing for $380.
