Need a 1"X1"x5" piece of dense plastic

Cutting down the buttstock on my old HK-marked Benelli M1. Stock is hollow; I'll have to cut it down, then fit the piece of plastic to the inside, then screw the buttpad to it. I could use wood, but prefer a piece of dense, but not brittle plastic. I'll need to screw through the sides of the stock and into the piece.

Delrin would work well. I dont have any in that size, but you should be able to order a pice pretty cheap. Comes in black too

Go buy some "Window Weld" at the auto parts store. You can fill it the opening with it and once it sets up you can screw into it. We use to make motor mounts with the stuff.

I don't think it will work, unless I filled up the entire stock, which I don't wanna do, or made a spacer, in which case I'm back where I started.

UHMW (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene)... it's typically called wear block for various industrial applications- think those white commercial counter tops. You can get it from Grainger/McMaster/lots of online plastic suppliers.

Although a liquid potting compound like Epocast or something similar might be easier to get a good fit.

I would use an epoxy or acrylic resin if possible. Otherwise McMaster is going to be your best bet.

Somewhere around here I have a stick of 90 durometer black urethane. Used it for making suppressor wipes when rebuilding old MAC cans.

It was fairly expensive 10 years ago, about $90/foot. Oh, & its round, not square...

Deering, UHWM and similar materials are pretty easy to work. You need to spend some money on a good epoxy as UHMW is known for it's lubricity and thereforemost is difficult to bond to other materials. I would look at a good piece of oak to make the insert out of. It should hold a bond much better and not be displaced by recoil.

Got a block of something. I'll be using epoxy, but also at least 4 wood screws. Also, the stock tapers towards the action, so it can't pop out but one way......as long as I fit it properly!
