Q: So the SOCOMII is basically created for CQB. Should I take off the Vortex Crossfire II and put my Aimpoint Comp M4 on it?

I'm torn... @NWS has a VLTOR chassis and another dude has a Troy MCS chassis for sale... although I love the pistol grip on a rifle, I'm not sure I want to change the look of the SOCOMII and basically throw away the extra stuff on the SOCOMII. But it looks equally badass.

Make it easy for you, the vltor shipped to Florida Monday.

Mine is very much sub MOA. I shot a whole box, 20 rounds of Gold Medal Match through the same hole at 100.

The 5/8x24 threading on a 223 bolt gun is a big plus for me too since I can use my Cyclone without a thread pitch adapter.
That's nothing. I can shoot an entire 30rd mag through my VZ with iron sights and only have one hole in the target.

Anyone have any thoughts on proper optic for the SOCOMII? Keep the vortex crossfire ii (1-4x24) optic or replace with my Ainpoint Comp M4? Something else?

What will it be used for?
Doesen't the Aimpoint sit a little high on there?

Maybe we ought to get a little group together for a range day. I can stay with my Dad in Rome.

I have a PRO on mine some times, and a 1-6x others.

Mine is far too heavy for CQB.

That's the Chassis I have on mine. Don't let the name "CQB" fool you. It is heavy as a mother. There is no way I can use my Socom for anything other than a bench gun so long as it is in the chassis. I bet I am over 15lbs.

Also, he wants twice what I paid for mine. Granted, mine didn't come with the sights

Well I definitely don't want to add additional weight. Plus I dig the old school M14 look of the traditional stock type.

I love the idea of a M14. I have owned 7 of them over the years. They can be very reliable but the last one I had failed me. I am weird when it comes to guns in that if it ever fails then I won't own another one.

I will probably buy another one in 3 months and try again. ;)
Nice M1A bro.
