Looking For Ar Building Advice

im looking to build my first AR15 and would like to do it from scratch. What kind of tools will I need and I'd like to keep the total car under 800 or so if possible

How simple do you want to be? You can get a complete upper and a complete lower and throw them together and be done, or you can buy all the parts seperate and build it the entire way you want.

Gotta decide the purpose of the rifle first. That will determine certain parts you'll want. Varmit rifle? Super simple? Tactical? SPR? Once you know you can start to plan.


Minimum is a receiver vise block for upper and lower. Good punch set. Barrel nut wrench (some rail systems have proprietary barrel nuts so buy cautiously). Torque wrench, headspace guage if you go totally from scratch....
