Looks like an Arisaka. Japanese gun.
Alright. Give me a little bit and I will grab a close up picSecond this- type 30 or 38 probably. Close up of the top of the receiver would help-

Good to know. I will take a look at it.The Arisaka's had a chrysanthemum on the top of the receiver. From what Dad told me once, the engraving was ground off out of respect for the emperor of Japan on the war bring backs... if you have one with the flower still showing, it's quite valuable.
I got one from my uncle with a monopod and dust cover that slides with the bolt. It also has the wings on the rear sight. Looks like a sniper model but from what I can tell it has no scope mount.
It's hard to find a value on these rifles. I'm in the process of appraising my uncle's arsenal so we can split it between 4 beneficiaries and that's one that has me stumped. At first I thought it to be about a $125 rifle but further research looks like some of these bring a much higher price. The dust cover adds a good bit to the value, or so I've been told.

So I am definitely thinking 30 at this point. Here are some detailed pics of the upper. View attachment 16403 View attachment 16404 View attachment 16405
