I am shooting consistent groups with my XDs. The only problem is, the groups are 3" left of center at 7 yards. No amount of trigger finger contact adjustment or other trigger management techniques seem to help. I can set the gun down after shooting a group like this, grab any other gun I own and I'm on center horizontally. After putting over 13 mags through it with similar offset groupings I decided to take a look at the sights. The rear sight was at dead center.
So, I decided to drift the rear sight to see if it brought my groups back to center. I did some research and everything I read online seemed to suggest that the rear sight needed to be drifted left since it was shooting left. I did this and the problem greatly amplified. I drifted back to center then slightly right and the groupings came back right and have now centered up nicely.
So.... All of that being said, did I misread/misunderstand what to do with the rear sight? I assumed the problem to be the shooter and not the gun but shooting it alongside an HK P2000, Sig P2022, Glock 19, 26 and a Sig P290 told me otherwise.
It's dead on now at 21' at the position shown below.
