Hi-Point Carbine & C9 Pistol | Budget or Junk??

So I had the opportunity to try out a couple controversial guns this week, the Hi-Point Carbine 40s&w and the Hi-Point C9 9mm Pistol. I know there are alot of mixed opinions on these firearms. Some say they are descent budget guns while others say they wouldn't be in the same room with one.

Never shot or held one of their pistols. Played with a 9mil carbine and it shot well. Too damn ugly for my tastes though.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A Hi-point on the night stand is better than a Glock on layaway.

I have gone back and forth on a 9mm hi point carbine. For as cheap as they are and I really don't hear many bad things about them.

I shot a hi-point pistol once and it was all over the place. Least accurate and most inconsistent hand gun I've ever fired. They're reliable though.

The carbine is great. Reliable, accurate, compact. I don't know why people knock them. I'd own one.

My buddy, has a carbine in .40 he said its dead on, and reliable, only drawback is that they only make 10 round mags for them.

pretty much goes with what I normally. hear ugly as hell but goes bang everytime and is cheap as dirt. I keep toying around with the ideas of picking up one of their carbines

I've got a 9mm and 45 carbine, I like both of them.
They are ugly as hell but accurate and reliable, the only drawback is the mag capacity.
I also have a Sub2K in 9mm and I actually prefer shooting the Hi Point on the range.

You can get different versions that take either Glock mags, m&p mags or beretta mags. No reason you can't stick a 30 rounder in there or even hang a drum under it.

I read something on the webs one time about a Glock mag conversion. Don't recall the details, not gonna bother to look it up now.

Good review! I wish some other companies would make some affordable pistol caliber carbines. Seems like with a better trigger and some different mag options this would be a good gun. But that may be throwing good money after bad

What is this ".40 cal" you speak of? I've seen mention of that caliber in various history books bit did not realize anyone still made it.

Bought son #1 a HP 9mm carbine at the RK show last December from Cherokee for $250 or something like that for an early Christmas present.

He prompltly went over to an adjoining table and bought a scope for it.

All things being said, it shoots great. And is very reliable.

At the price point, what's not to love?

Yeah, if they made it to accept glock mags they would have to build another factory to supply the demand.

Oh, and fwiw, I love pistol caliber carbines to begin with...so maybe I'll get one in .45acp...

I've owned a Carbine once.. only a few months until I traded it along with a camera for my first AR. The short time I had it.. it wasn't that bad. Pretty accurate too.

There are ways to make it look better.
