The reaction rod is better because you can orient the upper to any angle.

am cheap and don't shoot much so that is overkill.

I bought a bike vise. not this brand but u get the point. works nice for cleaning and just holding in different angles depending on what your doing.

oh and locktite 248 in a stick. no mess. Its like chapstick,just dip screw threads in it and your done.

A bev block is $45, the reaction rod goes on sale for $69. It's worth it for installing gas blocks, if all you do is mount rails the bev block works fine.
