Is there a guide already here for obtaining NFA items in Ohio?

I'm thinking about getting a SBR or even attempting to locate a machine gun but am unsure about the process for obtaining the NFA tax stamp in Ohio.

Is the process the same in every state/locality? And does anyone know of any cities in Ohio that completely outlaw the ownership of any NFA items.

Thanks

Check with an NFA dealer for starters. I have found they are pretty good about walking you through the process and can provide all the proper forms. If you try that and still need help I can try to answer your questions.

The process is regulated by federal statute and is the same wherever you live. However, each state may regulate NFA guns in their own way. Ohio basically allows NFA items so long as you have them properly registered with the feds (that is laid out in the definition of dangerous ordinance in R.C. 2923.11). State law preempts local law on the issue so cities can't outlaw the ownership of NFA items (R.C. 9.68).
