Glock 46 Something REALLY new in the works!

Apparently a German magazine got a hold of some info on a new Glock in the works. I know what everyone is thinking. A "new" Glock with only minor changes. Yawn.... But NO! It has a re designed operating system. Mainly a new ROTATING barrel instead of the tilting barrel current Glocks have.

Too fat & chunky. PPQS, VP9s, M&Ps are all better in the grip.

For some reason, the grip on this looks extra chunky...almost USP chunky.

I agree. Surely they're gonna make provisions for that though. Whether it's a Lug type QD mount or something though.

Wouldn't the suppressor just rotate with the barrel?

Would be quick, sharp actions. Would tend to come loose or tighten down ridiculously rather than just follow. Maybe Glock should spend the time "fixing" the issues that so many can't stand about them, namely, the grip angle.

For a fightin’ pistol, this has some great features; rotating barrel, low bore axis, striker fired. Very interesting.

I would be curious if hanging a can off the barrel would cause the gun to malfunction. Would the added weight affect the rotation of the barrel, or the timing of the rotation?

I think @cmshoot hit the nail on the head. This was designed primarily as a fighting pistol. And I think it will excel there and in competition. Both places you don't really see Suppressors. He also brought up good points about the added weight messing up the timing. Another great question. Either way, I can still see myself buying one of these if it does make it to market over here.

I like the rotating barrel lockup system. Been around for a long time. I found pics of a prototype semi-auto using this system that was prep-1900.

I had a Beretta PX4 G-model .45ACP FDE......that’s a rare bird! One of the best shooting combat pistols I’ve ever used.

I would still be buying one if it comes to market. Never shot a rotating barrel before, so would definitely need to try it out.

I know I've seen Beretta px4's with suppressors, I wonder if they have to do any special for the rotating barrel?

I'm a fan of Browning's tilting barrel. Maybe it's because I've come to appreciate the reliability of it, but it would seem to me the tilting barrel design aids in the feeding process. And to me, reliability is pretty much the only thing that matters in a combat pistol. So I'm happy with the glocks I have for that purpose. Probably won't go trying to fix something that isn't broke with my duty guns.
