I ordered 2 Aero uppers 1 last year for the 300BLK build and 1 this year for the 6.5G build. I would have thought they had the same forged marks on them but upon a closer look I see that they are not. Last years has a broken A I guess is Anchor Harvey Aluminum and the recent purchase is M with a diamond Mueller. Interesting find I thought I'd share with the group.

There's only a handful of actual forging companies out there. They sell to all the ar15 manufacturers. And often, receivers aren't even actually made by the people whos name is engraved on it.

also never seen a Mueller but wouldn't surprise me at all. over the past year there were tons of panics where everything got bought up, not hard to think companies were having a hard time getting receivers from their normal suppliers

I guess I never really paid that much attention. I heard Mueller was a govt contractor only... till recently now they are available to general public.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's never seen a Mueller. I was afraid I was.

Just pulled my Aero out, and I guess they actually made this one. No markings on their "enhanced uppers" that I can find.

I wouder why the square forging mark is not on the list? DelTon, Anderson & Range Tool use the BAFE forging & they occasionally show up randomly on many manufacturer's firearms.
There may be more ......

I have quite a PSA's marked with the splintered A or a square (BAFE). The older ones seem to be the square, and newer receivers with the A
My FN receiver is a square with an F to the left of the square
KAC SR15 is Keyhole
Bushmaster is marked FK
BCM is marked square
Aero is marked splinetred A
I have a Anderson or two laying around I need to find. Cannot remember what is on them...

Who are these Range Tool guys? Never heard of them until recently. They were bidding as an oem supplier for bolt carrier groups and the sample I saw looked like crap.

I know of the owner from a dealer forum. Think he's in TX. He seems pretty knowledgeable but I've never seen his BCGs. It's funny you mention that. A bunch of dealers including me were in BCG group buy years ago and he wasn't part of it but was highly critical of the specs. I would've imagined his BCGs would be perfect lol.

Their product was sub par based on the photographs I saw. Recently came up on Primary & Secondary. The gas key screws were incorrect and staking was very poor. Reminded me of some old school RRA stuff. I just don't understand why the BCG is so freaking hard for people to get right. It's probably the single most over-discussed topic in the AR realm. But more companies get it wrong than right. I just don't get it.
