I'd spend forever making a jig for a router bit, if I ever actually do it, OR, mortise it with a razor knife and sharp chisel. It would take about the same amount of time, but I'd be able to reuse the jig

Flat stock black ABS plastic makes great moderate use templates, you can fill oopsy's, saw marks, blow outs etc..with abs pipe glue and sand to a perfect fit
