Never had an AR. Only rifle caliber I have is 30/30.
I probably ought to buy something in a caliber I can actually buy.
But not sure if I'm ready to spend almost as much as all my guns combined. (I'm not a poor, but I am cheap.)

7.62x39 is always cheaper and still easily available every election year. I bought a case online the other day for $325 shipped. Still way cheaper than .308 or 5.56

Doesn't fir any useful political narrative. No "mass shooter" just a personal beef between 2 guys who didn't care about bystanders. No "white supremacist" angle. The police chief went on to babble something about this being because of too many guns in America but that's to be expected.
During the Saturday news briefing, Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said authorities had identified two male suspects responsible for the shooting, and added that it appeared this was an isolated incident between the two parties. Almost all of those injured were "innocent bystanders," the chief added.
The suspect(s) remains at-large. It is unknown if there is one, or multiple suspects involved. There is one suspect described as a black male, with dread locks, wearing a black shirt and a skinny build. The area will be closed for an extended amount of time to process the crime scene. Investigators are collecting and reviewing camera footage and surveillance video.
