We’ve visited this before but as a reminder if you try to pull 6800 pounds, you will be over the payload capacity of your truck.
I know. Do not need a landboat for a daily driver and a farm truck.
When I can get a Tacoma for the manufacturer's true cost or F250 for $60k, dollar math says I will not be towing anything beyond what Taco can do.

You guys and your big brained math.

Fill truck up, if truck no go take some out. Repeat until truck go.

That’s seems to be the wisdom.
Due to my job though, I look at the numbers differently. All of the manufacturers use fictional tow ratings on all levels of trucks. If you tow a four wheel wagon type trailer, then the numbers are probably accurate. But if you tow a standard trailer which will give a tongue weight of 12-15% of total weight, you will more than likely exceed the “weight of passengers and cargo should not exceed xxxlbs” label on the door jamb. But folks just look at the other number, load it up, hook it up, and won’t understand why it drives and tows like shit. They also never look at the Gross Combined Weight Rating, nor do they look at the rear axle weight rating. But they will try to tow the “rated tow rating” and will be over all of the other weights. I cannot stress enough that the the numbers the manufacturer publishes is absolute bullshit.

Great daily driver. Great grocery getter. Good “extremely” light duty truck.
But I think your usage needs exceed the capability of a taco.

If only the diesel hilux was available here. It’s beefed up where it counts.

One last post in my “weight police” thread.

Most common trailers people pull do not have brakes. (Rv’s do as do some of the dump trailers is see).
So, the manufacturer says you can pull 9000 pounds, but if someone pulls out in front of you, can you stop 9000 pounds.

Done here. Just food for thought.

It comes from balancing out a plane, doesn't it? The weight obsession thing?
