Because he is not using Ceracote like everybody else. Colored hard anodizing is different. My DDC does have different shades, but so does ODG.

He's always used anodizing. But still doesn't explain why he can't make the same color he was able to before

He does, on some parts, just not all. Rail and charging handle on my DDC are that color. Receivers are lighter.
