I'd be interested to read up on different kits & specific-use builds and what companies make decent (but affordable) kits. Looking forward to reading suggestions from those with real-life experience. I've always kept a couple of different types of kits, but I haven't rotated stock in a while & not sure what new innovations have come about in the past few years.

Bleeding kit - very similar to trauma kits with the major difference being obviously the focus on mass-hemorrhage aka bleeding out

trauma kit with include items to clear restricted airways, or seal sucking chest wounds, etc

Basic kit I pieced together that hangs on the wall in my garage; had an old bulk first aid kit that I filled up with basics for around-the-house type boo-boos. Mostly left-overs from restocking other kits ... a lot of the stuff needs replaced as it's at least 4 or 5 years old.

Here’s two trauma kits I have, one is in a bag thermal-sealed and stuff into a canvas bag and labeled. This one gets tossed in vehicles or taken on trips etc

This trauma kit is vacuum sealed much like the EDC kit above to keep it super-compact

also the pouch is a great option for people wanting to carry a trauma kit on them without having to take up plate carrier space on their vest

you can wear it on molle, or belt, vertical or horizontal etc and pull the entire kit free from either side

For daily life, having two kids and wife, going to park going on short trips etc I have a ITS first-aid “It’s a boo-boo” kit just packed full with everyday items, bandaids, steri strips, anti-inflammatory or anti-diarrheal , sting gel burn gel etc etc etc.

stored and labeled in a canvas ITS bag, and then kept in an ITS foldenizer that can Velcro to my headrest or center console etc with their universal vehicle mounting platform.

has nice storage pockets for some extra supplementary stuff like QC or TQs etc

super handy

I need to up my kit game. Definitely need some of the high-speed, low-drag compact kits without the extra fluff.

Here is my truck-kit, used an old pistol case and stocked it up with left-overs & it ended up being a repository for anything that didn't have a home, everything from antacids to Israeli bandages...

Obviously, I'm no professional, but I promise to evolve ;)

All the Velcro labeling panels from ITS are glow in the dark for assistance finding the kits if they’re buried within a larger bag or in and adverse situation like a vehicle wreck at night etc

I can’t recommend Imminent Threat Solutions enough.
They’ve done almost all of the leg worn for you, creating pre-packed and thermally sealed kits using only the best equipment with the longest expiration dates possible.

they are not cheap

all of their bags are made in the USA by them, their creations and their designs.

they’re worth every penny in my opinion and when I was trying to price out the same items, individually bought and sourced (at the same quality) I almost always broke even or came really close to prices

the kits don’t come with the bags and the bags don’t come with the labels however he is usually running sale/combo deals all the time and if you shop right you can usually score a kit with a bag heavily discounted or a bag with a Velcro panel for free etc.

First aid and trauma care isn’t just an “OpErAtOr” thing. It’s a life skill that often time isn’t even used for yourself.

whether it’s work related accidents, saw cuts power tools etc. or it’s walking into a situation out in the world where someone has been injured; car accident, robbery, accidental or intentional discharge of a firearm, gunshot wound etc you could be the difference between life and death for that person.

certain injuries require specific care, so plan ahead as best you can with where you’re going, what you’re going to be doing. Make a risk assessment and bring what kit you can to be handle that potential risk.

see guys all the time carrying a firearm, and spare mags, knives etc because the potential for a violent encounter is enough to warrant carrying a weapon. If you’re preparing to be in a gun/knife fight you had better be prepared to sustain a gun/knife wound and even though you may have won that fight, you need to be able to survive the outcome yourself to make it all worthwhile

there’s a plethora of combat experience on the battle field with trauma care that has helped us back home learn what works, what’s worth bringing, and how to use it.

Item-specific question: What's the word on QuickClot products? I seem to recall that the powder was frowned upon once they came out with quickclot sponges as the powder was hard to clean out of the wound. Have some of both, just curious if I should throw out the powder packs.

I need to get something but need to learn how to use it first
I need to up my game on usage as well; I've had 3 or 4 basic classes (put on by local airport fire / EMS), they got us to the point of being able to handle small to medium cases, or in severe cases, the basics of what to do until EMS arrives on scene within 10 mins. I'm woefully unprepared for anything outside of the basics.
