Fallout 76 How To Create A New Character.jpg

Each player can have up to 5 different characters on their account in Fallout 76. While this may not seem necessary, creating multiple characters can be very helpful. Many players simply create one main character and only use one character slot. While this isn't an issue, it's much better to create at least one additional character, especially if you are planning on playing Fallout 76 often.

Creating an additional character is now easier than ever. When creating a character, players have two options. The first is to leave the vault as a level 2 character. The second is to leave the vault at level 20. Leaving at level 20 is much more useful as it means the player has a few skills that may prove useful early on. This guide will go over how to create additional characters and why it is beneficial.

Making an additional character is very simple. To start, open up the game and select Character. This will show all the characters you have made, including your main character. To create an additional character, select new. This will load you into Vault 76 as a new character. As mentioned above, after following the instructions and leaving the vault, you'll be given two options.

The first option is called Battle Ready Dweller. This is by far the best option. This option allows you to select one of 5 pre-made loadouts. Each loadout is level 20. Your choice doesn't matter that much, because you can go and change the SPECIAL selection at a Punch Card Machine. If your character is going to be a mule, then the best thing to do is invest as many points in strength as possible and select all the weight-reduction perks to allow your mule to hold more before becoming over-encumbered.

The second option is called Fresh Dweller. This means that you'll leave the vault at level 2. This can be OK if you want to grind the levels yourself. But, if you want to use the character as a mule, then it's better to select the Battle Ready Dweller option.

Weight management can be tricky in Fallout 76. Since players only have 1200 lbs of storage space in their stash box, it doesn't take long to fill it. While you can purchase a Fallout 1st subscription to gain access to both an ammo and junk storage box, this costs real-world money. Instead, you can create new characters to act as mules.

These mule characters can be used to hold any of your main character's unwanted items, thus freeing up some extra space in your main character's stash box. While there is no official way to transfer items from one character to another, there are a few things that you can do to move items to a mule account:

Give your unwanted items to a friend, switch to your mule account, and have your friend hand over the items.
Hide the items in an empty container on the map, switch to your mule, and pick the items up. You must be on a team to do this. And even then, it's risky.
Look at various online forums and have a courier come and help swap over items.

By using a secondary character as a mule, you'll always have some extra items that you can use for trading or to keep for later use. There have been rumors over the years of Bethesda increasing the amount players can store in their stash box. However, there's been no official word from Bethesda themselves. But, since you can have up to 4 additional characters, you can have a total of 6000 lbs of storage space, which should be plenty of space to store all of your items.

If you are planning to use multiple mule characters, it's a good idea to give each character a name that represents the items they'll be holding. For example, if you have a character dedicated to holding all of your excess legendary items, then it's a good idea to call that character 'legendary.' This helps to prevent any confusion when trying to figure out which character is holding your legendary items.
