The Gleaming Depths update has introduced lots of new features to Fallout 76. Players can take on raids, earn 4-star legendary weapons, and more. One of the new features is something that players have been wanting for a very long time: CAMP pets. Prior to this update, players could have CAMP pets, but they weren't easy to obtain. Outside the occasional Fallout 1st animal, players could only get a pet by trying to tame a wild beast.

This came with its own set of problems. Taming a wild animal was difficult to do. Not only that, but it wasn't uncommon for the creature to either disappear via a bug or get itself killed while roaming around the player's CAMP. The new CAMP pets feature allows players to keep cats and dogs at their base with zero chance of getting hurt.

How To Get A CAMP Pet

At the time of writing, there are two ways to obtain a CAMP pet. The first is via the Atomic Shop. You can purchase a CAMP pet for 800 Atoms. Since the Atomic Shop changes regularly, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to purchase a CAMP pet from the store in the future. The second way to get a CAMP pet is by ranking up through Season 19. There are two CAMP pets available on this season's scoreboard. The details can be seen below:

White German Shepard: Rank 81, 50 Tickets
Bombay Cat: Rank 81, 50 Tickets

Once you have unlocked a CAMP pet, all you need to do is place your pet's shelter in a suitable place and your pet will appear at your CAMP. CAMP pets can be customized by the player. Things like outfits and accessories can be crafted and worn by your pets. Not only that, but you can name your pets, and you can also interact with them via an emote menu. While the interaction options are fairly limited, there's plenty of space for Bethesda to introduce new animations and features further down the line.

The Future Of CAMP Pets

Since CAMP pets have been something that players have been wanting for a while, Bethesda will undoubtedly add more pet options as time goes on. They may also add more clothing options and accessories for pets. However, while there is a lot that can be done to improve CAMP pets, it is unclear whether Bethesda will introduce new pet content via gameplay or through the Atomic Shop.

At the moment, players can choose between owning a pet dog or a pet cat. But the potential pet options are almost endless. Provided that CAMP pets continue to be a popular sight at players' CAMPs, Bethesda will likely add plenty of other options in the future.
