An acquaintance of mine, Paul Evancoe, retired Navy Seal, wrote this article and set the standards for the testing of this build.I had the pleasure back in the late 70`s to hunt with Paul in our club in upstate Pennsylvania when I was a young lass. Paul is now retired after an extensive career, but still dabbles in technology and weapons.
While this technology has been around for awhile, he said it was fun to work on this project and looking to see about trying it on the AR platform.

So, WD-40, really? It's a great solvent but not so good of a lubricant.

Could you achieve the same relative performance by hardening the wear surfaces of a full-aluminum frame?

Speaking of full aluminum frames, M-9's have a full aluminum frame don't they?

I have a full size 5" Taurus PT1911AL. Shoots like a dream and weighs as much as my RIA compact (3.5" bbl) 1911. The Taurus frame is aluminum.

I love the idea of this technology - never even heard of it before - but wouldn't it be cheaper to replace an aluminum frame more often assuming it wears quicker than the hybrid that costs more?

Dang, all this 1911 talk has worked me into a lather. Need to get to the range soon!

I think this test id=s geared towards military use. Off shelf lubes and the wear areas having the titanium. Most of all its about weight. Seems that with gearing up the foot soldier with more stuff. Weight is the factor
