The National Match post?

Maybe.

There's a good reason for the width of the front sight post. Standard width equals out to 7moa. 7moa at 300 yards is 21", and most people are around 20" wide. If a soldier puts it on a person, and the person it's the same size or wider than the front sight post, then you can hold center and battle sight zero will take care of the problem. If smaller than the front sight post, you know you need to hold over to make a hit.

I don't really know what options are out there, beyond knowing they make different widths. I'll probably pull it off and put some calipers on it. I believe we'll be shooting at D targets at 600 yards, instead of 400, because the CMP range is set up for High Power, and they don't shoot at 400. That target will be less than half the width of the post, unless I change it, not the best set up for target shooting. I need all the help I can get.
