What's your preference for a leather holster for a full sized auto? Galco? Safariland?

I’ve liked the Galco holsters I’ve had and the Don Hume ones have been good for inexpensive leather.

I like to get leather holsters handmade by artists. This is a custom handcrafted holster made for me by SOB Holsters. It is marbled mahogany stained leather with black frog skin inlay. Absolutely beautiful work by a great craftsman. You can find them at https://www.facebook.com/SobHolsters or http://sobholsters.weebly.com/

Pics above are R. Grizzle stuff.

When it comes to belts and holsters, my advice is always choose quality first and foremost. I've regretted dozens of holster purchases over the years, but I've never regretted buying top quality leather.

Fo Shizzle! Those look fantastic. Do you order direct?

Yep. Talked to Ryan over the phone on both. They’re both leather with sharkskin trim. He told me the exact species of sharkskin but I don’t remember. Great guy to deal with, he’s a Georgia boy, and his quality is unbeatable. You’ll find stuff as good, but none better.

One or both of the pics above are also in the gallery on his site.

I don’t think I could ever put that HK in kydex. It just feels wrong to me.

The P7 series aren’t easy to holster. They’re heavy for their size, with a short slide/barrel and all the weight back in the grip. Without a well-designed holster, the grip portion pulls away from the body and won’t ride flat against you. I actually found Ryan Grizzle on an HK P7 forum where he was recommended as one of the folks who makes a holster specifically for the P7.

Nothing too fancy or flashy, but very comfortable. Guy at the company next door made this for me. Also, not a fullsize. I’ve always wanted a Stoner Holster out of Middletown, OH for my full size 1911s. Just never got around to it.

Now that's just some fancy stuff right there

Thanks. He makes regular holsters as well, but my wife got this one for me as a gift to wear to work. While on duty I have to wear a suit every day so this is my dress holster. It goes well with more formal wear (although I won't lie, I also wear it in the tree stand).
