5.56 Barrel Length

Does going from a 16" barrel down to a 12" barrel matter much? I'm looking at buying an HK93-type clone and can't decide between the 16" variant and the 12" pistol variant. This will be my only 5.56mm gun and possibly the last one I can buy for the remainder of the year if I actually move forward with buying a .45 suppressor for my upcoming UMP.

I have no problems out of a 10.3" DD barrel on an AR. Obviously, you aren't gonna find a scope to match perfectly for BDC and shit.
As far as accuracy, using good ammo and doing my part properly, I've zero'd at 50m with a group right at .5" . Obviously not sniper tacticool, but more than capable for most needs.

Good to hear. This will be my intermediate gun; my .45s are for the home and daily social work, the 308s are for the Nazi hordes. I just don't have a single intermediate rifle. Yeah, I know.

For hunting/defense, ammo is key for a shorter 5.56. Hornady makes a TAP that's designed for SBRs, it's some brutal stuff . I keep a mag of it loaded in my SBR.

I'd prefer that...but seeing what happened to 5.45 makes me a bit wary of using that as a go-to....not to mention I can't choot it at the ranges by me.

I know it's apples to mangos, but man it is amazing how short barreled 5.56 performs about the same as 45 Super out of a carbine.
