.224 Valkyrie

Have any of you bought or built either a complete rifle, upper, or barrel and tested it out yet? I'm really curious to build one. but I know very little information is available so far. I just wanted to know what your experience is.

I think that's it's primary goal in life. But I think Tim on MAC took a deer with it. Either way, I don't hunt, so it'd be all good either way. Most I might do is take it prairie dog hunting.

Good to know. That was another question was ammo availability. I don't order much ammo online.

If I recall it was about 50-100% more than the cost of 5.56..

I doubt that 95% of us would ever reap the benefits of the .224 Valkyrie.

If I'm shooting 800-1300 yards it'll be with a 6.5 Creedmoor. Under 800 the 5.56 will do just fine for me.

I’ve been thinking about one @Rwjeter you can find ammo at $0.50 rd for brass I’d like to see a steel case at half that before I jump on tho. I believe it’s a 6.8 SPC BCG with a 224 barrel. The velocity is awesome and could be a tack driver. I want to keep my plinking to around $.25-$.30 per rd or less but I’ll be watching it.

You really aren't going to see uber cheap rounds. It completely defeats the purpose of the round. It's not designed for plinking.

Is this more of a 3gun or match build or do you think people will be using it to hunt yotes and other small varmints

I think it's more competition long range.

It's long range. Allows one to shoot over 1k while keeping in a standard AR. You could hunt with it, but really not the purpose of the round.

I'm curious about the PSA uppers. $500? I know it wouldn't be competition grade, but neither am I. It might be every bit as accurate as I am capable.

Kinda defeats the purpose doesnt it? If its not accurate, why bother?

I have not. I don't get much into boutique rounds until they've been around a bit. I do believe Mr.GunsNGear just did a video on them though.
