That's what I had done except I had the side rail removed, kept the fcg (unless you're talking about the funky sporter one), and since I was going AKM, I used a 45° gas block and akm front sight.

I doubt anyone wants it, but I'll sell either my Maadi or my converted Saiga for $2500 if anyone is interested. Yes I have more than that in both of them. This house is hemorrhaging my savings account.

One thing that Saiga has going for it is it has the dimpled receiver

@DeanMoriarty you think that's the Saiga where the guy welded the bolt-on retainer with it on the gun?

Some were dimpled and some were pinned from the factory as I understand it. The rear is bolt on for sure as far as the grip goes. You can see the 2 "rivets" above the grip. If they were going to weld or rivet the correct triggerguard, I'd assume they'd weld all the holes and refinish the rifle...
