Ruger LCP. I have on me all the time. Get the Hogue grip sleeve to go with it. Makes shooting MUCH more comfortable. She's fairly accurate, too. If you buy used be sure to get the Gen II model. Gen I's triggers are LOOOOOOONG> Here's how to tell the difference. Gen II is on the right.

Don't be afraid of a RIA. I carry a compact RIA 1911 in .45. Utterly reliable with good mags. Citadel is also made by Armscor (who makes Rock Island in the Philippines) but is supposed to be "nicer". I have the 9mm Citadel and love it. Lot of gun for the money...
