Top Tier ARs - How Do You Rank Them

I know what you mean about Colt. But to me, they will always hold a spot near the top simply because of the materials used and because they are held to a known standard. Sionics is a small company, building a great gun. They've actually made some Department sales here in the Atlanta area...

    OATH Ammo Looks Promising

I didn't understand most of those last two paragraphs. But, I hunt with a model 700 CDL in 30-06. Love that rifle. I shoot the heck out of WWB and have never had an issue, out of a S&W! So, I suppose I might resemble that remark...

    Atlanta Mayor Wants Smart Guns

Still not as bad as his decision to violate state law by not auctioning off the thousands of seized weapons the City has in its possession.

Top Tier ARs - How Do You Rank Them

The stupid part is, some are moving well North of that mark. Especially in the billet realm. No thanks. The only gun in that range that I think is worth the money is the KAC SR15. But it's getting harder to justify with BCM becoming more affordable and their innovating new in-house products.

PSA will serve alot of people well. But for the guy that wants a top shelf gun, BCM offers the best value in the business. And if a buyer is planning on installing a rail, adding a stock, etc, they may be better served to buy a complete BCM. IMO, they are every bit as good as some guns retailing...

Top Tier ARs - How Do You Rank Them

Well, for starters, for around $1k your BCM will have a KMR rail, upgraded stock, QD endplate. If you're going to make a comparison, be sure it's apples to apples. But if you dig a little deeper, you'll also get an improved barrel profile (ELW). A 16" ELW KMR-A upper will run you $670, complete...

In every way. BCM makes the best valued "fighting guns" on the market.

Top Tier ARs - How Do You Rank Them

We've been down this road before. [emoji6] But for the benefit of others, I'll explain. Alot of their parts and accessories are exorbitantly expensive, primarily due to them selling to the government, which fixes the cost they are allowed to offer the consumer market. But the SR15 is worth...

Top Tier ARs - How Do You Rank Them

This is sort of where I'm at with them. Their barrels are their best feature. But I'm not a fan of the NSR and complete rifles are over priced. And I've had QC issues with their stripped lowers in the past. I had a custom upper based on an N4 barrel. It was no more accurate than my BCM's or KAC...

Yep. And they rode that horse into the ground. Even though the guns proved to be a miserable failure for the Agency that purchased them. There's a reason they lost that contract. Today, they're basically building the same guns they made in 2004. I'm quite frankly surprised that they've survived.

Meh. Older RRAs had plenty of issues too. They've always been overpriced for what they are.

Top Tier ARs - How Do You Rank Them

Understood. And I'm not surprised. But strictly from a component standpoint, the PTAC line is sub par, compared to others. I'm not saying they are the worst ever produced, at all. Just that, if you're going to split them into "tiers", component quality, assembly, QC, etc, all come into play.

FA/QD mounts-Do you really use them?

I swap my M4-2000 between three different uppers all the time. But, I've got a Harvester pending for a precision rifle also. My next can will be a Rugged 762. And I'll run it on multiple rifles as well. To me, the majority of buyers pretty much expect and demand a solid QD system that locks up...
