my opinion is that a standard bcm or other quality bcg fits the bill unless you’re going for a certain look. i do own one or two nib or non-phosphate bcgs because i got them at a good price. i came close to buying one of the cryptic coatings several years back but ultimately balked at the price.

for hunting applications i like a standard duplex. most of my hunting calibers and range (to the critter) are such that it doesn’t make a lot of difference to use hold overs. for my self defense rifles - i like a standard red dot or whatever comes in the 1-4 or 1-6x that i can afford.

in all honesty, neither DD or colt is my go to rifle anymore. these days, i’m a BCM fanboy. you can get a nice BCM rifle for ~$1000 which is more than a colt 6920 but less than DD’s cheapest model.
