i like the bcm milspec bolt carriers. my current go-to has a bcm bolt in a vdi lifecoat carrier (integrated gas key). seems like one less thing to go wrong but i’ve never had the gas key come loose on either of my bcm carriers. i have a nib bcg too (cant remember the brand) and it’s worked...

why not just buy a separate, stripped upper receiver for each barrel? seems like this would only be cost effective if you had 10 different barrels running on the same upper. uppers are cheap.

if ammo prices were not an issue, i would go with a 9 to 12” 300 sbr that was proven to be reliable...preferably with a quality can. i am assuming by “defensive” you mean something within 150 yards.

i was in the same boat but stuck with colt mags and magwell adapter (hahn precision which is the best imo). i don’t get the draw of the glock mags (and yes i get that they go in a g17 too and maybe are slightly cheaper).

i have a thing for bullpups having owned a steyr aug and a tavor. this thing never really did it for me. the 5.7 was more expensive than 5.56 and less powerful - i just never could find a use for this pdw that couldn’t be better filled by a 5.56 sbr. it is an interesting and unique design...
