I appreciate that, Pops. When I have a little more spare time (which is hard to come by even though I'm retired) I'll look into a local class that covers both state's requirements.

I'm thinking about the same for me, both non-resident of course. What differences, if any, are the requirements for the two? I have not done any investigation but I do know there's someone teaching Utah-compliant classes in my area.

Actually, Rich, there is no ejector in this Darne shotgun. It has an extractor (right between the two chambers) but no ejector. When you rotate the breech, the spent shells are pulled back a little over 1/4 inch so you can grab their rims with your fingers to pull them all the way out.

The stuck screw seems to be a wood screw. It goes through the wooden butt plate into the stock. I don't think I'd want to flood the wood with oil. I'm good with leaving it alone, as I don't think it would be wise to shoot the gun anyway. Let's get a few more guesses and then we can spill the...
