I carry a g19 and I switch from 115 gr. Hornady critical defence during warmer seasons to 135 gr +P hornady critical duty during the winter. Who else out there does this?

You are not the only one who switches to a tougher load during the winter. The winter jackets people wear these days especially crack heads and meth heads would probably make most rounds tickle once they penetrated all the way through, if they even make it that far. Usually I try to shoot for heaviest loads I can find during the winter.

I guess I never really gave all that much thought to it, I carry 135gr all year but that makes a lot of sense swapping from a lighter to heavier gr rd from summer to winter

Nothing wrong with doing that. Having to stock another round is a minor disadvantage.

Personally I don't see a reason to downgrade to a lighter bullet. If you like 135gr during winter, what's the disadvantage of using it during the summer?

I have to support that one as well.  I run 135gr all year round.
