Sounds like a good setup. You're pretty lucky For some though, they may not have access to that kind of water. And all this stuff is scenario dependent. If it's truly a grid-down kind of scenario, then that water becomes stagnant due to no pump/filter and you would need to manually filter it anyway after some time as it would go green. I am just saying that for SOME, that water is more valuable than for others. Travelling long distances for water in a worst case scenario really brings all kinds of potential issues into it. Safety/security for your location while you're off getting water, manpower to bring enough water back so you aren't making tons of trips, and so on. Plus, if it's a worst case scenario, there maybe be people who decide that THEY want a place that has all that water in their yard and while you aren't exactly 'defending a swimming pool', you are defending your location because that would be what comes next. Now if it's not a true SHTF/Zombie apocalypse kind of thing, then this is a totally different situation.

One size doesn't fit all, depending on scenario. Too many variables.

Water isn't a real issue in my area you can squeeze it from every rock on the ground, treating it becomes the problem.

Sore spot here. Couple cases of bottled water, and a few gallon jugs. I bought a couple of those water spout barrels with the spigots at the bottom, but haven't got around to installing them yet. I have a few rolls of plastic sheeting and the ingenuity to create a rain catch on a hillside in the wet months, but that isn't enough. Question I have is, in a cataclysmic state, what condition are the public sources like rivers and streams going to be in?

I have plans to buy at least 50 acres with a pond. I will install a well with the pump system running entirely on solar or genny backup. I think treating water wont be as bad as people think. Boiling water is pretty easy to do.

A sand/charcoal filtration system is super easy to make. It would be wise to watch a couple youtube videos if you don't know how to do it. Some clean sand, burned wood and a bucket is all you need, but there are better ways if you have some better materials handy.

I`m gonna look into this. I have so many projects going on. Have protection covered, food, water barrels but still have to hook up. Filled one for now. Just got my generator to the house for backup.Have to hook up. Water is near just looking for different ways to filter. Is one micron good enough for most filtration? My whole house filter is 0 micron.
